About the Event

On 27 June 2026, Deaf Black Friendly Hub UK (DBFHUK), in partnership with Nurture Academy, successfully delivered a Hair Braiding Workshop in Hackney.

The workshop brought Deaf people together to learn practical hair braiding skills in a fully accessible environment with professional British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation throughout the day.

Participants enjoyed learning new techniques, building confidence, making new friends and communicating freely without barriers.

Participants enjoyed learning throughout the workshop. Our friendly BSL interpreters ensured clear communication by interpreting the Nurture Academy tutors' guidance into British Sign Language (BSL), making the workshop fully accessible for all Deaf participants.
